Our group has a commitment towards holistic and sustainable development as well as towards the education and empowerment of the downtrodden segments of Society. The group contributes back to society through its NGO – The Karunya Foundation.
The Karunya institutions have a rich history that dates from 1937 in providing education to the poor and under privileged sections of society. Our founder, the Late Sri. Ponnekanti Benjamin, an overseer with the Indian Railways, responded to the clarion call of Mahatma Gandhi and resigned his enviable position with the British Indian Railways to start the first educational institution in our part of Guntur in a small way.
Over time the institutions developed into a mighty tree which provided shelter each year to nearly 300 orphans, from various communities and of various religions. Our institutions’ alumni are now in well-established positions, including some in the Indian Premier Civil Services, all over the world.
